Amy Jean Klobuchar, pronounced ˈk l oʊ b ə ʃ ɑːr (KLOH-bə-shar), was born on May 25, 1960. She is an American politician and lawyer who has served as the senior United States senator from Minnesota since 2007. Klobuchar is a member of the Democratic Party.

Political Career

Klobuchar's political career began in 1998 when she was elected to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. She served in that role until 2006, when she was elected to the United States Senate. Klobuchar is the first woman to be elected to the U.S. Senate from Minnesota.
