Hoeneß: "Can't pass everything on to the players"

Bayern Munich honorary president warns against resting on laurels

Hoeneß: Investment in youth is important for the future success of the club

After the successful season for Bayern Munich with the German championship and cup victories as well as the Champions League triumph, honorary president Uli Hoeneß warned against resting on his laurels. "We have to be careful not to fall into a state of complacency now," Hoeneß told the "Abendzeitung". "You can't just pass everything on to the players."

Hoeneß emphasized the importance of investing in youth for the long-term success of the club: "We have to continue to invest in our talents and our infrastructure." He added that the club should not be afraid to make daring decisions and take risks. "We must always dare to break new ground and not be afraid to fail. This is the only way we can continue to be successful in the future.

He praised the development of young players like Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies, but also emphasized the importance of having experienced players in the team: "It's important to have a good mix of young and old players. The experienced players can give the young players guidance and support.

Hoeneß also expressed his support for coach Julian Nagelsmann, who is under contract until 2026: "Julian is a very good coach who has already proven himself at Bayern. I am sure that he will continue to be successful with us."

In conclusion, Hoeneß emphasized the importance of a long-term perspective for the club: "We cannot afford to think from day to day. We have to always think about the future and invest accordingly."
